Self-Portrait
In this project the we will be drawing their face to proportion using drawing and observational techniques. After the face has been draw the artwork will be photographed and put on the Google Chromebook and edited in Pixlr Editor. Once in Pixlr Editor you may choose to design either a magazine cover or a movie poster about something that interests you.
Project Goals:

Pixlr Editor Minimum Requirements:
- 1 Background Image (Large, high quality picture)
- 1 Subject Image (What are you putting you face onto?)
- 1 Face Image (Your digitally colored in face drawing)
- 1 Detail Image (Something to add to your theme or story)
- 2 Text Layers
- 1 Title
- 1 Sub title, review, article, etc...

Project Steps:
Day 1:
- Outline facial features to correct proportions.
Day 2-5:
- Create face details such as nose, eyes, mouth, ears, hair, etc. to finish drawing.
Day 6-7:
- Take picture of drawing on Chromebook and upload to Google Drive
- Open project file and image of drawing in Pixlr Editor
- Make your self-portrait it's own layer and add color layers.
Day 7-9:
- Enhance drawing and add magazine cover or movie poster effects such as background images, text for title and sub title and anything else you think will help tell your story.
- Be sure to only use high quality large images in your project!

To get introduced to Pixlr Editor please choose one of the buttons below. Our "Home Run" button is "How to Change the Background". This video covered a lot of tools and requires some background knowledge or frequent pauses to keep pace. If you are not familiar with Pixlr Editor or would like to "Run the Bases" you can select the second button titled "How to use Pixlr Editor Tools". This will being you to a web page filled with short videos that explain one tool at a time. It will be helpful for you to view each of these videos on your own time or if you ever have some extra time during art class.
Once you have viewed the needed videos try saving the Pixlr Editor Challenge: Place the Penguin pictures below and editing the penguin into the background picture. IF you are having any difficulties try reviewing a video, asking a neighbor or e-mailing Mr. L.
